NEW ORLEANS —

WDSU Investigates has uncovered more documents in an alleged child abuse case involving a nonverbal boy who was found dead in a New Orleans lagoon.

Bryan Vasquez, 12, died from injuries from an alligator attack nearly two weeks after his family reported him missing. Advertisement

His family said he was nonverbal and had autism, but new documents show he suffered a brain injury from his mother when he was just three months old.

Those injuries have left some questioning could they be linked to Vasquez's special needs.

The records obtained by WDSU Investigates are from the Department of Child and Family Services.

DCFS declined to release additional documents requested by WDSU.
