The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office is under a cyberattack.

The cyberattack was reported around 4:30 a.m. Advertisement

The incident was detected by the sheriff's office at 8 a.m. when employees couldn't access their computers.

According to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, the cyberattack is a ransomware attack and is not compromising the jail's computer system.

The jail’s system operates on a separate server and continues to function normally, according to the sheriff's office.

The OPSO Information Technology team is responding to the cyberattack.
