The University of Virginia Health System’s flagship medical center in Charlottesville is in the midst of a major expansion project, one that will allow the hospital to keep up with the region’s growing demand for neonatal and oncology care.

Three floors are being added to the six-story South Tower at the UVa Medical Center, increasing the hospital’s capacity to treat patients with cancer as well as newborns. Hospital officials estimate the floors will be ready to accept patients in January 2028.
