ELTON, La. (KPLC) - Small town and big money problems continue in Elton.

At tonight’s Town Council Meeting, things took a nasty turn.

Accusations went flying as a full-on screaming match broke out between council members, the chief of police, and residents over concerns and questions about the budget. The same budget issues led to the entire police force being let go last month.

On Aug. 6, the council announced that the entire police force would be laid off after claiming Chief Bruce Lemelle went way over budget.
