A Maryland inmate has been indicted for first-degree murder in connection with the death of another prisoner at the Eastern Correctional Institution in Somerset County.

Tyjuan Chapple, 26, was charged after a Maryland State Police investigation into the March 29 death of 28-year-old Shane Lanham. Authorities say Lanham was found unresponsive on the floor of his cell, which he shared with another inmate.

A Somerset County grand jury indicted Chapple on July 25 on charges of first-degree murder and related offenses. He remains in the custody of the Maryland Division of Corrections and was served with an arrest warrant on Sept. 3.
