NEW BRUNSWICK – Deborah Terrell emerged from her apartment with a 12-inch kitchen knife in her right hand, calling out, “C’mon! C’mon!” before New Brunswick police officers used pepper spray and a taser on her.
She turned back into her apartment in the John P. Fricano Towers building for a moment, but then moved toward the four police officers with the knife pointed in their direction.
That’s when a police officer unholstered his gun and shot her twice, killing the 68-year-old retired school bus driver.
The events of Aug. 8 that were captured by police-worn body cameras, as well as the 911 calls, were released to the public late Wednesday afternoon by the Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability.
