STAMFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Stamford police say they recovered a loaded ghost gun near a city playground and arrested a 19-year-old.

According to police, Joshua Arce, 19, was taken into custody around 2 a.m. on August 30 near Mill River Park.

Officers said they found him with a loaded 9mm ghost gun and loose ammunition.

Authorities explained that an off-duty member of the department’s Narcotics & Organized Crime Squad first received information that Arce was armed.

The tip was shared with the midnight patrol division, which quickly responded and located him near the playground.

Ghost guns are untraceable firearms, often assembled from kits purchased online or created with 3D-printing technology.

Arce now faces multiple charges, including, criminal possession of a firearm and ammunition,
