MINOT — The defining characteristic of the Republican Party in the MAGA era is absolute fealty to Donald Trump.

Trump supporters will likely find that assertion objectionable. After all, these people who think of themselves as conservatives once prided themselves on being the opposite of a politician's simpering lickspittles. Independent thinking has gone out the window to be replaced by a cargo cult that worships the forms of conservatism, but not the reality.
