A man has been sentenced to six years in prison for killing an Elgin bicyclist in a drunk-driving crash.

Anthony Osborne pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol — causing death.

Authorities said Osborne, 34, of the 500 block of Hickory Place in Elgin, killed Jonathan Herbert, 70, in a head-on crash on Sept. 21, 2023. Herbert suffered a broken leg, face and skull fractures and bleeding on his brain. He died Oct. 4, 2023.
