Law enforcement officials have captured an inmate who, police claim, attempted to escape from Chester County Prison on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025.

According to police, Thomas Hackett, 35, of Phoenixville -- incarcerated on indecent exposure and open lewdness offences -- was captured after he, allegedly, climbed a fence and navigated through "layers of prison wire" in an escape attempt that happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officials said Hackett was captured after he was spotted by a corrections officer after noticing several inmates "pointing and looking towards a section of razor wire at the top of the prison's recreation yard.
