BEMIDJI — The Sanford Center saw extensive damage from the June 21 storm that caused $4.4 million worth of damage to Bemidji as a whole, city officials estimate.
During Tuesday's Bemidji City Council meeting, the Sanford Center's third phase of storm damage renovations was approved unanimously. The phase includes 12 projects at an estimated price tag of just over $1.2 million, which is set to be covered by insurance, the city confirmed.
The goal is for all 12 projects to be completed before the hockey season commences in October. This gives construction crews a tight, one-month window. Still, the Sanford Center is expected to be fully operational for the hockey season, even if some projects linger beyond opening night.
