San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch joined KNBR on Thursday morning. As you’d expect, Jauan Jennings was the primary topic after the Niners sweetened his deal late Wednesday night. Lynch commended Jennings for getting healthy and handling any potential distractions the right way.

Lynch wondered whether Jennings would have any rust in Week 1. This is his first week of practice in about a month. When the 49ers gave Jauan an extra $3 million, the prevailing thought was that this would be his last season in the Bay Area, as both sides could not agree to a long-term deal. However, Lynch said, “We’re going to continue to work on a long-term deal. But why now, we have a solution that works for everybody for the short-term. That’s a good thing for the Niners.”
