NORFOLK, Va. — The Naval Air Force Atlantic is set to receive new leadership this week.
Rear Adm. Douglas C. Verissimo will be relieved by Rear Adm. Richard T. Brophy Jr. during a change of command ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5.
The ceremony will take place aboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) at Naval Station Norfolk. Brophy will take charge of all Naval Air Force Atlantic operations, overseeing the readiness and management of the Navy’s Atlantic Fleet air forces.
Brophy is a decorated naval aviator with over 4,300 flight hours and 100 combat missions. He’s served on multiple aircraft carriers, including USS Theodore Roosevelt, USS Enterprise, and USS Ronald Reagan, and has held leadership roles such as Chief of Naval Air Training and Commander o
