For several minutes, John Derwin Bradley spoke softly and contritely about the murders of his ex-girlfriend and her mother .

He pleaded guilty in April to killing 16-year-old Rianna Glass and her mother. He called Rianna Glass his happiness and his hope .

Then, he apologized.

“I am sorry. I am truly, deeply sorry for everything,” he said.

Judge John Morganelli acknowledged Bradley’s remorse, his troubled upbringing and his youth. But they don’t outweigh his actions, the judge said.

He sentenced Bradley to 73 years to life – at least 36 and a half years in prison for each of the victims.

Bradley was described as a relatively intelligent young man with no serious mental health issues. Psychologist Frank Dattilio diagnosed him as a narcissist and a manipulator, however.
