All lanes of southbound Highway 17 in the Santa Cruz Mountains reopened early Friday morning after an injury crash involving an overturned fuel tanker closed part of the roadway for nearly an entire day, officials said.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m., the Santa Cruz office of the California Hihgway Patrol said all southbound lanes near Sugarloaf Road near Scotts Valley were open.

According to a statement posted on the agency's Facebook page , the crash took place around 6:45 a.m. Thursday. Officers said a 70-year-old man from Salinas was driving the tanker truck, which was carrying one trailer and traveling at a speed that has not been determined.
