Massive search launched for missing swimmer off Cape May beach

Cape May, NJ – Emergency crews rushed to the shoreline early Wednesday morning after a swimmer went missing off the coast near Madison Avenue and Beach Avenue, according to local officials.

The swimmer reportedly entered the water around 7:15 a.m. and has not been seen since. Cape May City Police, Cape May City Fire, and the Cape May Beach Patrol quickly initiated search efforts, joined by the New Jersey State Police Marine Bureau and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Multiple agencies remain on location as boats and rescue teams scour the waters and coastline. The United States Coast Guard Fire Department is also assisting with the operation.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen an individual swimming alone around that time
