SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker has identified the body found in a wooded area in July, said the coroner’s office.

The body was identified as 49-year-old Ernest Branch of Dobson Street.

Coroner Baker said Branch’s body was found in a wooded area near 1242 Alice Drive on July 25, 2024.

An autopsy was performed on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

The Sumter PD, New York Medical Examiners Office, the NY Police Department, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, and SLED worked together to identify Branch.
