LAVACA -- Those planning on attending the Lavaca Area Chamber of Commerce Car Show next month will need to pump their breaks, at least for an additional two weeks.
Chamber officials said the car show, which was planned for Oct. 4, is now going to take place two weeks later on Oct. 18. In addition to the car show, the chamber will also hold its third annual Business Bash and a Cruise Night for the vehicles Oct. 18.
Angela Gillooley, chamber president, said the organization decided to move its car show date because leaders realized it conflicted with another similar event in Hackett.
"We try really hard not to compete with any other towns close to us and help each other out," Gillooley said. "We have a really close relationship with (them) and the other towns, so we try not to hurt each o
