“The Paper,” a new mockumentary comedy series set in the universe of “The Office,” debuted all 10 episodes of its first season on Peacock on Sep. 4.

The pilot episode reveals that “The Office’s” Dunder Mifflin was acquired by Enervate — an Ohio-based paper company — in 2019. Rather than focusing on paper sales, however, Enervate makes and sells a variety of paper products, including newspaper the Toledo Truth Teller.

While the Toledo Truth Teller was once a well-respected publication, it now mostly licenses stories from larger news organizations and has only two real journalists on staff — neither of whom do much reporting, though. Enervate values the Truth Teller less than it does its toilet paper division (with which the Truth Teller shares an office).
