Kingston illustrator Hayden Maynard is celebrating national recognition after being named a finalist for one of Canada’s children’s literature prizes.
Mighty Scared: The Amazing Ways Animals Defend Themselves, written by Toronto-based author Erin Silver, published by Orca Book Publishers and illustrated by Maynard, has been shortlisted for the Richard Allen Chase Memorial Award. The book is targeted to readers aged six to 10 and explores the various tactics animals use to protect themselves.
