Earlier this week, Dan Campbell said he preferred someone who could “run the show” if the Detroit Lions added a third quarterback.

On Thursday, C.J. Beathard, a veteran who has made 13 starts in his NFL career, was added to the fold.

Beathard was signed to the practice squad, and in a corresponding move, the team released defensive end Isaac Ukwu to make room for him. Beathard will provide additional support to Jared Goff and his backup, Kyle Allen.
