OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - The Oconee County Sheriff's Office have arrested and charged a man with sex crimes against a minor.

Deputies arrested 30-year-old Thomas Jay Simmons of Seneca, and was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center without bond.

The sheriff's office said an investigation began August 25 after a family member of the victim, who was reportedly eleven at the time of the incident, spoke with deputies. Following the investigation, authorities said Simmons forced the victims to perform a sexual act, and also sexually assaulted the victim this year.

Simmons was charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.
