SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

One year ago, the American Cancer Society launched a groundbreaking study aimed at understanding and improving the health of Black women , particularly in relation to cancer outcomes.

While researchers are seeking input from 100,000 women, only 4,000 have registered to participate.

The American Cancer Society wants to engage with Black women ages 25-55 who have never been diagnosed with cancer.

Data shows Black women continue to have the highest death rate and the shortest survival of any racial or ethnic group in the U.S. for most cancers.
