Students in Guilford County Schools are mastering more core classes and hit a pre-pandemic high in academic growth despite struggling in some other areas, according to state accountability test results released Wednesday.
In Guilford, 77 percent of the students and 86 of the district's 120 schools met or exceeded academic growth expectations with nine schools dropping off the list of low-performing schools.
But it also means a third of the district's students aren't where they should be.
Guilford's 92.1 graduation rate is also higher than the state average (87.7) and other larger school districts in North Carolina, including Charlotte (84.3), Cumberland (86.2), Durham (80.4), Forsyth (86.0), and Wake (90.6), according to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
