EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — A 35-year-old Illinois man is facing rape and burglary charges in Evansville after police say he entered a woman's apartment and raped her.

During an interview at Holly's House, a victim told authorities she woke up to a man touching her inappropriately inside her apartment.

The victim said the man, whom she was able to identify as Brandon Elam, raped her.

Police say the victim told them she originally met Elam online on an adult platform.

Investigators say they spoke with Elam over the phone and informed him that he was being accused of raping a victim in Evansville. They say he immediately acknowledged the incident and told them he knew what they were referring to.
