The Sioux Falls School District is exploring fundraising opportunities to support updates at Howard Wood Field, namely improving the concessions area and upgrading the field events space.
Renovations could be completed by spring 2027, district business manager Todd Vik said in an Aug. 25 school board work session.
Concessions lines get long at big events like the Festival of Bands, major track events or big football games, making the concessions area “easily congested and difficult to navigate,” district spokesperson Carly Uthe said in an Aug. 28 email to the Argus Leader.
The district also hopes to create more accessible space for spectators in the northwest field area with “improved seating and safety enhancements,” Uthe said.
