Marcus Spear has taken on several different roles for the Great Falls High football team since last season ended.
On the field, he’s changed positions on offense and is now playing both ways for the Bison.
Most importantly for head coach Coda Tchida, however, is the initiative Spear has shown behind the scenes.
“He wasn't voted a captain, but the kids look up to him as a captain, even though he doesn't have that ‘C’ on his chest,” Tchida said. “He leads stretches for us, he leads prayer for us before games, and the kids look up to him. I mean, he's honestly a great leader, and he's a team-first guy, and he's proven that over the last three weeks to our kids and to the coaching staff.”
