Underwater lost cities are some of the most tantalizing areas in all of archaeology. From the ruins of the Roman Empire's Baiae to the Neolithic site of Atlit-Yam, people of all backgrounds are enticed by the untold stories of ancient sites submerged beneath the seas. However, few ancient lost cities can compare with Alexandria in Egypt.
Once famous for its library and Serapeum, this port-town rich in knowledge is now famous for its underwater ruins ( which may even include the now-lost tomb of Cleopatra) . Few people know that there are actually more underwater ruins in the city's surrounding area. These include the cities of Canopus and Heracleion.
