OTSEGO COUNTY, MI – A Michigan man died after his vehicle crashed into a tree in Northern Michigan.

Michigan State Police in Gaylord responded to the scene on Townline Road near Fischer Road in Otsego County’s Livingston Township on Wednesday.

Police say a 64-year-old man from Gaylord was traveling southbound on Townline Road when he veered off the roadway and struck a tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

“A witness told troopers there was no swerving or breaking prior to the crash,” a statement said. “It is unknown what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.”

Lifesaving efforts were administered until EMS arrived and transported the driver to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
