The most expensive Lego set to date, and the only one to nearly hit a four-figure price tag, will release next month, the toy company announced on Thursday, Sept. 4.

The Ultimate Collector Series Death Star, inspired by the moon-sized space station from the legendary "Star Wars" franchise, costs $999.99, according to Lego's website, and that doesn't include tax.

Measuring 28 inches tall, 32 inches wide and 11 inches in diameter, the block set contains 9,023 pieces. Lego recommends it for people ages 18 and up.

"From 'Star Wars: A New Hope' to 'Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,' this collectible set recreates some of the most legendary moments in cinematic history," Lego said in a Sept. 4 news release.

Additionally, the build includes 38 Lego minifigures of iconic characters from the "Star Wars" franchise, such as Luke Skywalker (in both Jedi and stormtrooper variants), Han Solo, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine and two droid figures.

Here's what to know about the Lego Ultimate Collector Series Death Star, including where to buy it, when it hits stores and how to get early access to the "Star Wars" inspired set.
