Portland Thorns and U.S. women’s national team star Sophia Wilson welcomed a baby girl this week.

Wilson and her husband, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson , are first-time parents after the birth of Gianna Capri Wilson. The proud mom made the announcement Wednesday with an Instagram post , saying:

“My little gigi, I don’t know how I ever lived in this world without you. mama loves you more than you’ll ever know.”

Wilson, 25, formerly Sophia Smith, earned NWSL MVP honors in 2022 and helped lead the USWNT to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She announced in March that she was pregnant, and she has sat out the 2025 soccer season.
