The defendant who allegedly killed a father of three in Shrewsbury last week shot him five times during an apparent dispute over spray-painting and a scooter, records show.

Details of the killing were included in a police report filed Tuesday in Westborough District Court as prosecutors formally charged Snehal A. Srivastava, 26, with the murder of 56-year-old Kevin Doherty.

Srivastava, who pleaded not guilty Friday to lesser charges in connection with the shooting, is slated for arraignment on the murder charge Sept. 12, records show.

A spokesperson for the state public defender agency, which is representing Srivastava, declined to comment on the case but said Srivastava uses she/her pronouns.
