“Small” fFire extinguished at Clinton Twp. high rise for seniors

Clinton Township firefighters extinguished a “small” fire at St. George Tower on Thursday morning.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 11-story building on Hayes Road near Canal for a general fire alarm.

“While enroute, dispatch updated the responding companies that flames were seen in an apartment on the first floor,” firefighters said in a social media post.

When they arrived at the complex, fire officials found a fire that was confined to one apartment, said Fire Chief John Gallagher. Firefighters quickly put out the blaze.

Fire personnel said no injuries were reported in the incident.

The cause and origin of the blaze are under investigation, according to the chief.
