Naomi Osaka is moving on.

In the most anticipated matchup of the U.S. Open so far, the 23rd-seeded Osaka defeated No. 3 Coco Gauff in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) to advance to the quarterfinals on Monday.

The Japanese star -- who moved with her family to the United States as a kid -- handled the 21-year-old American throughout the afternoon, wrapping up the match at Arthur Ashe Stadium in just over an hour.

Osaka, a four-time major champion, hadn't reached the quarterfinal of a grand slam since the 2021 Australian Open (which she won). Each time she's reached a grand slam quarterfinal in her career, she's gone on to win the tournament.
