In what might as well be a spinoff of "Undercover Boss," the Seattle Seahawks are putting their own spin on it from a fan perspective to keep the peace at Lumen Field this season.

Undercover police officers.

On Thursday, the team announced that they will be utilizing undercover police at home games during the 2025 season as a way to deter unruly fans. The officers will wear the opposing team's jerseys, disguising themselves as a fan of that team.

The Seahawks are using the new policy to ensure they can quickly identify guests that are violating the fan code of conduct.

They are aiming to prevent the following behaviors, including:

  • Behavior that is unruly, disruptive or illegal in nature
  • Over-intoxication or other signs of alcohol or substance impairment
  • Offensive language or obscene gestures, to include use of such language or gestures concerning a person's race, ethnicity, color, gender, religion, creed, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or natural origin; or to instigate, incite or encourage a confrontation or physical assault
  • Interference with the progress of the game (including throwing objects onto the field)
  • Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel
  • Verbal or physical harassment of home of opposing team fans
  • Smoking/vaping, tobacc or marijuana use on Lumen Field property
  • Solicitation or sale of any merchandise, tickets, food or beverage on Lumen Field property
  • Unauthorized entry into the field of play or other restricted areas, interfering with the progress of any game or event, attempting any physical contact with an event participant, and/or any other disorderly conduct deemed dangerous

According to the team, "fans can anonymously report any inappopriate activity that is disrupting their enjoyment during the game by texting a message to HAWK12 (429512)."

The Seahawks are considered to have one of the most passionate fanbases in the NFL, but have employed this strategy before.

In 2013, the team decided to utilize undercover officers at home games to keep an eye on the fans.

With a Week 1 matchup against the division rival San Francisco 49ers on tap, the new policy will be put to the test right from the opening kick.
