ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - Elkhart County leaders are asking Indiana’s General Assembly to take corrective action on Senate Enrolled Act 1 (SEA 1) during the 2026 legislative session.
The measure is aimed at providing property tax relief across the Hoosier State, but that relief will have an impact on county and municipal budgets statewide.
Elkhart County leaders critical of the bill warn that “without changes, Senate Bill 1 will leave homeowners carrying a greater cost burden, while cities and counties face shrinking budgets and fewer resources to provide basic services.”
