HART COUNTY, Ga. (WSPA) -- A man was arrested after leading Hart County deputies on a chase late Wednesday night.

According to the Hart County Sheriff's Office, the chase began just before midnight, when a 2020 Ford Fusion fled from deputies conducting a safety checkpoint on Lavonia Highway.

Deputies said they followed the car toward Lavonia, then onto Shoal Creek Road and Bessie Road, when the suspect ran out of road.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Kelsey Octavious Rucker of Hartwell, then stopped the car and ran, deputies said.

After a brief chase and taser was deployed, deputies said they were able to arrest Rucker on the following charges: • Felony fleeing • Speeding • Reckless driving • Failure to maintain lane • Too fast for conditions • Obstruction of officer
