MARTINSBURG - Tyson Bagent received a rousing welcome when he was introduced at the Martinsburg Bulldogs' season-opening football game last week.

The former Martinsburg and Shepherd star quarterback made a quick trip to his alma mater to participate in the coin toss prior to the game and watch his beloved Bulldogs take on the Camden, New Jersey, Panthers.

"It's amazing," he said of being back home. "All the people I love the most are here, and it's nice to take a break from football, and it's nice to be around people I love."

The appearance was part of a whirlwind couple of weeks for Bagent, who, a week prior, signed a contract extension with the Chicago Bears on Aug. 20 and a few days later, rallied Chicago to a preseason win against the Kansas City Chiefs.
