BELLEVILLE — A 19-year-old man who died from gunshot wounds Saturday has been identified by the St. Louis medical examiner’s office as DreShawn Mathis.

Tara Rick, a spokesperson for the medical examiner, said Mathis was pronounced dead at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Mathis was shot in the 500 block of North 38th Street, according to Belleville police. The shooting remains under investigation. No further details were immediately available, police said.

This was the fourth fatal shooting reported in Belleville this year.
