ST. LOUIS - Boeing will move forward with hiring replacement workers as an ongoing strike by St. Louis-area union workers enters its second month.
In a memo sent to employees, Boeing St. Louis Vice President of Air Dominance Dan Gillian said the company has started posting positions and plans to hold a job fair on Sept. 16.
"Today, we’re starting the process to hire permanent replacement workers for manufacturing roles. This will ensure we’re properly staffed to keep supporting our customers," Gillian said.
More than 3,000 Boeing defense workers remain on strike across the St. Louis region.
The most-recent contract offer from Boeing on Aug. 3 initially included a 20% pay increase over four years and a $5,000 bonus for newer hires.
