PLAYSTATION gamers have been hit by a huge outage leaving some popular features completely inaccessible for hours.

PSN's services became intermittent around 5pm BST / midday EST but have since escalated massively as the day has gone on.

The Down Detector website picked up more than 3,000 complaints in the UK and almost 2,000 in the US.

It comes just hours after game stores - including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam - were beset by problems as players raced to download the new highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong game.

However, it's not clear whether these latest issues are related.

One of the features apparently not working is Friends lists, with some reporting that their console shows no friends at all.
