TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Events at the Terre Haute Convention Center and the cross-country course bring in millions of dollars to Terre Haute.

Now, a new hotel may help drive up tourism even more. The chamber of commerce hosted a community investment celebration at the Terre Haute Visitors Center. In the past, the convention center was unable to host an event due to a lack of hotel rooms for participants.

The new TownPlace Suites, by Marriott, will be an extended stay hotel with 96 rooms. Local leaders anticipate this will have a positive economic impact on local businesses. It should also allow more events to come to Terre Haute.
