Thousands of gamers have been shut out of online play this evening after the PlayStation Network suffered a blackout - a few hours after Nintendo and Steam experienced similar issues.

PlayStation users have reported problems with the online service - which is used by more than 120 million people around the world to play popular online games like Fortnite , Helldivers and Rocket League - over the last hour.

Complaints include issues with gameplay and logging in, but the vast majority have come from gamers who are struggling to access PSN servers. 23:09 Liam Doyle
