MANSFIELD, Ohio (WOIO) - An update on a shocking story about a Mansfield man who was body-slammed by a cop, fracturing seven of his ribs.

That man’s attorney is planning to file a federal lawsuit – claiming his client was assaulted by a reckless officer who also happens to be a pro-boxer.

67-year-old Charles Roberts is still reeling from the night when he was body slammed by a cop – after jaywalking, fracturing seven of his ribs.

“Why did it have to escalate to this?” asked Roberts’ attorney Kevin Hulick with Spangenberg Shibley & Liber LLP in Cleveland.

Roberts hired Hulick, who plans to file a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Mansfield Police Department and the 27-year-old officer who injured his client, Michael Nelson.
