(NewsNation) — Uber has gone old school by allowing customers to use green bills to pay for their fares.
Cash fares were first introduced in March and are an available option via the Uber app in metros such as Los Angeles, San Diego, Jacksonville, Orlando, San Antonio, Tampa, as well as Dallas and Laredo, Texas.
Only verified riders can access the option under "payment method," while drivers can decline a cash ride or remove the feature from their profile altogether. Only drivers with positive feedback can accept cash trips.
Users can check if cash trips are available for them in the "preferences" section in their app, or through receipt of an announcement email regarding the feature. Both drivers and users will receive the customary price of the ride upfront.
