A Baton Rouge man is being sought by police after he was accused of raping a 4-year-old girl and passing on a sexually transmitted disease to the child.

Anthony James Jelks Jr., 25, has not been located. He is wanted on a count of first-degree rape of a victim younger than 13.

Baton Rouge police officers became aware of the incident on Aug. 5 after responding to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in response to a report of a sexual assault.

A guardian of the child had brought her to the hospital after discovering redness and irritation around the child's genitals while bathing her. The girl told her guardian that Jelks had sexually assaulted her, according to a warrant for his arrest issued Thursday.
