The Common Council’s Police Oversight Committee meeting that was set for later this month has been delayed, and some Council members who have been seeking answers in the investigation of a case involving Erie County Sheriff’s Chief of Narcotics Daniel “D.J.” Granville expressed frustration this week.

Niagara District Council Member David Rivera, a former Buffalo police officer who chairs the committee, is among the committee members upset that Police Commissioner Alphonso Wright is asking to push back the scheduled Sept. 28 committee meeting to October to accommodate training sessions and vacations among several key command staff members.

“I think there’s a sense of distrust from the general public because it’s taking so long,” Rivera said Tuesday.
