LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - For the first time since 2023, Lincoln is no longer in a drought.
The latest data from the U.S. Drought Monitor released on Thursday shows Lancaster County has officially returned to normal conditions.
Over the last year, Nebraska has seen dramatic shifts in its drought landscape. In late 2022 and early 2023, almost the entire state was experiencing some level of drought, with a big portion of the state being considered extreme or even exceptional drought conditions. According to nebraska.gov , in the summer of 2012, more than 70% of the state was classified in severe drought or worse.
