SPOKANE, Wash. — Your giant smoked turkey leg might be a little extra smoky, and it won't be blue skies greeting the Ferris wheel riders during the first weekend of the 2025 Spokane County Interstate Fair, as smoke blows in from various wildfires in the region.

“There’s definitely the potential for unhealthy air quality in the next three days," said Mark Rowe with Spokane's Clean Air Agency.

Rowe says fairgoers should expect the haze to stick around into early next week due to a lack of wind.

"Though we may see a little bit of improvement on Sunday, the big improvement may not occur until Monday with the arrival of stronger southerly winds," said Rowe.

On Thursday, the air quality dipped into the "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups," or orange, category, and Rowe expects it to stay around
