KETCHIKAN, Alaska — A northeastern Indiana woman died Thursday following a crash in the Alaskan town of Ketchikan in which a car became submerged in a creek.

According to a release from the Ketchikan Fire Department, around 8:40 a.m. local time on Sept. 4, first responders were called to the Centennial Parking Lot on a report of a crash where a car had landed in Ketchikan Creek.

An initial investigation showed the vehicle had exited the parking lot, struck a pedestrian, broke through a fence and landed in the creek near the Good Fortune Restaurant .

Two victims were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. One of the victims, identified as a 57-year-old woman from Auburn, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
